It wasn’t easy getting together with Emily & Ross for their engagement session. I was as excited as they were to meet up for their session. Unfortunately we had to reschedule our first date because the weather was a drizzly wet mess. The next session date approached with breezy 40mph wind gusts forcing us to reschedule a second time. Finally we were hoping third time’s a charm, right? Well it almost didn’t happen because Mother Nature laid a very thick layer of heavy fog over the Chicago Loop. We decided to proceed anyway as the cold fall temperatures were quickly approaching. I am glad we did – the fog made the city uniquely beautiful the morning of their session.
Emily & Ross met while attending the University of Illinois. They were paired as “pledge siblings” when they joined their Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity. They had been co-chairs on several social committees and became good friends getting to know each other through the years. However, it wasn’t until Emily’s Junior year of school that it finally clicked. They eventually found out they had gotten to know each other so well as friends that their feelings were actually much deeper than they realized.
After they had graduated, Ross knew Emily was the one he wanted to ask for his hand in marriage. Ross had it all planned out – a romantic dinner on the 95th floor of the Hancock building. Emily was suspicious and hopeful that October 19th was going to be the night Ross would propose. Their dinner got off to a rocky start when the host wished the two congratulations before they had even been sat at their table. Luckily Emily was just out of earshot. Throughout dinner they witnessed 3 other proposals. Ross and Emily clapped and cheered along with each one. Ross had to make his move before there was another, so he took a moment to ask Emily about their future and pulled out a ring box. The best part of all for Emily was both of their families were waiting upstairs at the bar to celebrate the engagement with these two for the rest of the evening.
It may have taken a while to finally be able to meet up for the engagement session, but I hope you agree it was worth the wait. We hope you enjoy some of our favorite moments.
