Based in the suburbs of Chicago, we are a husband and wife photography team specializing in fine art wedding photography.
We prepare for many different wedding day disasters – wedding dress snafu, family drama, timelines running late. We even bring along a bridal bag to help with such unplanned wedding day situations. A sewing kit, back up cameras, extra batteries, protein bars, and boutonniere pins.
On the morning of Lindsay and Andy’s wedding, we never would have thought we would be walking into one of the most unpredictable weddings we have ever photographed. The day started beautifully. The ladies were getting ready, the vibe was excitement, the details were beautiful. Across town the gentlemen were busy preparing as well – toasting the groom on his future of happiness.
Lindsay and Andy chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other for the first time that day – so the remaining morning was spent with Mindy photographing Lindsay and the bridesmaids while Marc hustled to complete the groomsmen photographs.
While the excited bridal party waited for the ceremony to begin, the string quartet began playing beautiful songs as the parents were being escorted down the aisle. Lindsay stepped into the aisle with her father and saw her soon to be husband – all of the guests were wrapped up in the beautiful moment along with them.
It wasn’t long into the ceremony when the sky started to become darker and more ominous. It started with a few sprinkles… but just as Lindsay began reading her vows, the heavens opened up the biggest downpour you could imagine on everyone in attendance. As the musicians ran for cover, the cool rain pounded so loudly that nobody could hear a word being said by the beautiful and now completely water-drenched bride.
With the musicians huddled under a nearby tree, the wonderful wedding coordinator started handing out the few umbrellas that were handy. Marc hustled to hand out each of the umbrellas we had on hand as well. It’s like the entire world stopped and everyone began to laugh. Once snugly under a shared umbrella graciously held by a groomsman, the couple completed the exchange of rings and vows. As quickly as it began, the rain stopped just as suddenly – the newlyweds shared their first kiss.
If rain is good luck on a wedding day – Lindsay and Andy are in for a LIFETIME of love and luck with one of our most memorable wedding days. Enjoy some of our favorite moments of the day.
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Lindsay & Andy’s day beautiful.
