Stephen had the perfect proposal planned for the last Friday in June. A nice walk along the riverfront and dinner at an outdoor restaurant. The weather had been gloomy and raining all day, putting a damper on Stephen’s secret plans. The restaurant called to cancel their dinner reservation and Katie was now thinking she didn’t even want to get dressed up to go out in the miserable weather. She suggested postponing until the following day, but Stephen knew this would not work as he had already planned a surprise celebratory brunch with Katie’s family the next day – Including a surprise visit from her brother who flew in from Seattle.
Stephen knew he had to make his evening plans workout, so he somehow persuaded Katie to still put on a dress and go for a “super quick walk” during a brief pause in the rain that evening. As they walked to the Riverfront Plaza, Stephen’s friend was waiting nearby with a camera to capture the exact proposal moment.
Katie was surprised and quickly said YES! The rest of the weekend was celebrated with Katie’s family and a trip to NY to visit and celebrate with Stephen’s family.
As the wedding plans are falling into place for next year’s celebration, we had a moment to meet up for their engagement session a couple of weeks ago. The weather was beautiful and we were able to hit some of my favorite iconic Chicago photo locations.
Congratulations Katie & Stephen, we are looking forward to seeing your families come together from across the country next July to help celebrate your love for each other!
Session Locations: Wrigley Building | Chicago Riverwalk | Milton Lee Olive Park
