I love a little humor in hearing stories about how couples met. Kate and Ryan first met on the dating app, Hinge, in 2017. Ryan thought Kate was beautiful and Kate found Ryan’s sense of humor amusing – his response to describe yourself in three words was “selfish, anxious, and petty”. In Kates own words, “it was just too attractive to pass up.” The pair worked only a few blocks from each other, so when it came time for the first date on the very next day, Ryan picked a nearby bar. Of course, Kate wanted to Google it – the top results of which came up in an article titled “DC’s Top 10 Douchiest Bars”.
Although Kate admittingly went on the date with a few preconceived notions, she soon found Ryan to be a pretty good guy that she quickly began falling for.
Now, most of our engagement stories are sweet and kind, but over the years, Ryan had learned what Kate really loves the most – the movie Halloween. So when Kate suggested the two of them dress up like Michael Myers and Jamie Lee Curtis for Halloween, Ryan knew he had the perfect opportunity to surprise Kate. After watching the movie, Ryan turned to Kate, told her how much he loved her, put on the mask, got down on one knee, and pulled out the ring. Kate’s perfect proposal.
Congratulations Kate and Ryan – we can’t wait to celebrate your 2023 wedding with you next year!
