Although Jen may have been a little trepidatious about signing up for a dating app in the fall of 2019, she chose to create a profile on Hinge. Using this app, she then started talking to a gentleman named Jon and went on her first online date with him. The first app, the first date – and sparks flew right away.
Jon had just run the Chicago Marathon the day prior to their first date. Though many may have taken this time to recover, Jon didn’t want to miss the opportunity to meet Jen in person and instead arranged for dinner and drinks at Piece Pizza in Wicker Park. Jen is also an athlete as well – she enjoys volleyball and can definitely appreciate the amount of physical and mental training Jon put in to run the marathon. So the date was set and these two immediately hit it off.
The conversation flowed effortlessly as they shared dinner. In a bold move, Jon surprised Jen by saying Miller Lite was the best-tasting beer. The date ended with Jon walking Jen home, and that was where the date concluded in a quick awkward hug. Jen thought for sure she was put into the friend zone, and Jon thought maybe he should have held off on that awkward Miller Lite comment. Jon couldn’t stop thinking about Jen and texted her the next day asking for a second date. Jen agreed to the 2nd date and deleted the dating app.
Anyone who has tried dating apps I am sure can tell you that this kind of luck doesn’t often happen. It may take many, many awful dates before finding “the one.” Luckily for Jen and Jon, it only took one.
We are looking forward to December when we can share in your beautiful winter wedding vision. But until then, we wanted to share a few of our favorite moments from your Chicago engagement session.
