As I sat down to write today’s blog, I honestly do not know where to begin when talking about Kristi and Ron and their recent engagement session. I think it was while we were in the cab of Ron’s truck driving up what felt like a 45-degree incline over logs and trees that Marc and I looked at each other and did the unspoken husband and wife head nod. Either we were going to die or this was going to be an engagement session like we’ve never experienced. Fortunately, it was the latter.
Ron and Kristi met in college while attending their small school where they both were studying agriculture – giving them many opportunities to chat and get to know each other. After meeting these two for the first time it was pretty easy to see how perfectly they were made for each other. Kristi grew up on a dairy farm in Minnesota and Ron grew up farming in Illinois. They know everything there is to know about farming, from livestock to dairy to crops – their large-scale operation is quite impressive. During our initial consultation Kristi and Ron were running a little late due to the birth of a calf that morning. We chatted about their interesting careers and they even showed us live cameras of the newborn calf. We were honored to have been chosen to capture their wedding and engagement – knowing they wanted the location of the engagement session on the farm made it even more exciting. Marc and I are always up for new adventures and it was fun meeting up with them a couple of weeks ago.
The large farm had been in the family for nearly a century and allowed us to shoot photos in so many unique locations – from the top of a wooded winding road to the diary farm, we had a lot of fun getting to know and explore with these two. Also a special thanks for giving us the dairy farm tour and showing us how your beautiful jersey cows produced milk.
We have no doubt that the wedding day next fall will be equally beautiful and exciting. These two are a match made in heaven and we have been so lucky getting to know them throughout this process. Here are a few favorites from their home on the farm engagement session.
