As I am sitting down this afternoon to reflect upon Maria and Billy’s wedding day, it’s hard to even know where to begin describing my favorite parts of their day – there just were so many. Beginning with the weather, it was absolutely every bride’s wedding day dream – warm and sunny with just a hint of a gentle breeze. A stark contrast to today’s rain and gloom. As Marc met up with Billy and the guys at the church, my morning started at Maria’s family home. Walking in the door I was immediately offered breakfast and something to drink as I was welcomed with hugs by Maria’s family. That is just who they are, genuinely sweet, kind, and caring. They welcomed me not only into their home but, into their family for the day.
Now as for Maria, she LOVES the color yellow. Although this color may not be the most commonly chosen among brides these days, Maria tied in beautiful yellow accents throughout her wedding day in such an elegant way, it was absolutely perfect. If you could sum up Maria in one word, it might actually be yellow! Her cheerful sweet and joyful personality just shined throughout the day.
I met up with Marc at the church just before the ceremony began. I said hello to Billy and gave him a big hug as he was preparing to wed his beautiful bride. The ceremony was sweet and before we knew it, we were off to celebrate the newlyweds with a party bus full of bridesmaids and groomsmen.
After wrapping up Maria and Billy’s portraits along with their extremely large and FUN wedding party of 20, we needed to make one more quick stop at the Huntley Dairy Mart. One of Maria and Billy’s absolute favorite foods is ice cream. – so, it was fitting they wanted to make a quick detour before we headed off to Schaumburg. Marc’s decision of Dairy Mart over Culver’s was perfect, and this cute stop produced some of my absolute favorite photos of the day! Finally, we headed to the Schaumburg Renaissance for their reception celebration. Maria walked into the ballroom and told me how excited she was to incorporate lemons into their centerpieces. First, because Billy’s family crest has a lemon tree, and secondly it was more Yellow! I couldn’t help but giggle because this girl loves her yellow. The room was so elegantly decorated it was the perfect space to continue celebrating with friends and family into the late evening hours.
One of my favorite moments of the evening was when Maria and her father took to the dance floor. Not only was their fun choreographed dance routine a hoot to watch, but Maria’s dad, unbeknownst to, Maria had the DJ play a recording of Maria singing “I Believe I Can Fly” – a recording she made when she was a little girl. It was the most adorable surprise for Maria.
We had such a wonderful time getting to know Maria and Billy throughout this process and promise to come say hello to them when we come to visit Nashville.
