Chicago neighborhoods have such great character and charm – so much so that it is difficult not to get excited when one of our couples suggest an engagement session beginning in a Chicago neighborhood near their home. We started Lauren & Matt’s session in the Old Town neighborhood at their favorite ice cream shop, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. It’s one of those perfect little spots to walk to in the city for a frozen treat.
Lauren & Matt met during their sophomore year of college through their business fraternity. Matt was Lauren’s pledge dad and they soon became friends. It wasn’t until a couple of years later, during their senior year at school, that they began dating. I always say the best relationships start as friendships and this wonderful couple proves exactly that.
Nearly five years later, on a chilly and rainy August evening, Matt led Lauren to the riverfront with an elaborate plan of a formal dinner with their parents. It was all just a ruse to get Lauren all dressed up for Matt to pop the question. The reservation that evening was actually an intimate dinner for two at one of their favorite Chicago steakhouses, Maple and Ash.
Because the city and lakefront held so much meaning for these two, we chose to conclude their engagement session as sun was setting on beautiful North Avenue beach.
Their wedding is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited for these two best friends to tie the knot. Here are some of our favorites from their engagement session.
