Marc and I were on our way to photograph a Friday wedding in Woodstock when Marcellus called to chat about his upcoming September wedding. He conferenced in Angela and we chatted for a while about their vision for their upcoming Labor Day weekend wedding. Angela and Marcellus sparked a work romance seven years ago while both working in Washington DC for Boeing. Angela was the new girl at the office and Marcellus, being the friendly and outgoing guy he is, struck up a conversation. They soon found that they both had a passion for Bourbon and Oysters and shortly thereafter enjoyed an after work, happy hour date.
I had the pleasure of getting to know Angela and Marcellus over the course of a couple months leading up to their Chicago wedding. Planning a wedding from out of state is never an easy feat, but it was their love of Chicago drew them back here to celebrate this special event. If you want to showcase the city of Chicago, there few venues which are as perfect as the rooftop of Navy Pier. The city skyline views are simply breath taking from the terrace. The perfect accent to the city view was the wonderfully planned Chicago Art Deco theme of green and gold décor – including floral arrangements hand made by Angela’s mother.
A perfectly sunny and beautiful ceremony was followed by an ominous looking sky as the couple took to their first dance. A quick passing thunderstorm during dinner cooled the evening air and fortunately cleared out for a perfect fireworks ending!
Enjoy a few from this beautiful day.
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Angela & Marcellus’s day beautiful.
