I am going to let you in on a little secret – one of my favorite places to photograph is on college campuses. From the wide-open plazas to the beautiful architecture of old scholar buildings, there is a vibe that is timeliness and classic.

When suggesting locations for Julie & Taso’s engagement session near the north shore suburbs, I naturally suggested the beautiful campus of Northwestern University. Even though I had previously photographed at that location, the large sprawling campus provides many opportunities for unique photos for each couple. Julie mentioned that Taso had graduated from Northwestern so it was a perfect fit for their engagement session.

We began at the beautiful Alice Millar Chapel – the Gothic architecture and lush green ivy foliage made it the perfect backdrop to capture a beautiful and classic couple.

Julie & Taso first met through a coworker while working at the same company. After a very cold first date, the sparks began to fly and there was no going back to being just acquaintances. I absolutely love their engagement story which also includes a very cold night 3 years after they had begun dating. Julie and Taso celebrated their anniversary by going to the Lincoln Park Zoo lights event as it had been one of their dating traditions. After they had returned to their apartment, Taso brought out a box of custom-made ornaments. Each had some memory from their courtship. The final and last ornament opened to reveal an engagement ring. Being that Christmas is my absolute favorite holiday, I just adore this proposal story as much as I do the two people behind it.
