Shannon & Matt

The outlook for the weather was not looking good on the days leading up to Shannon and Matt’s wedding.    Thursday I sent the dreaded email to Shannon letting her know we were more than likely going to execute plan B for the wedding day pictures.  Being that the wedding was in Clinton, Iowa, I began some research a few alternate locations to our original plans.  No bride wants to think about rain on their wedding day, but Shannon is a bride who took it all in stride.    Rainy weddings pose and exciting challenge to photographers, especially when trying to find a space for a large wedding party of 20!  It’s these challenges that push us as professionals and really allow us to be creative and capture images we may not have originally considered.

Shannon and Matt were not bothered in the least by the wet beginning to their wedding day.  We opted for a first look on the big wrap around porch of a local Victorian mansion.  It was gorgeous backdrop for capturing the happiness between Shannon and Matt upon seeing each other for the first time that day.  The scene could’ve been out of a Midwestern Living magazine; such a special moment to capture.  The mint and gold color scheme Shannon and Matt had chosen was an absolute stunning accent to their day.  Shannon’s dress was truly radiant and fit her perfectly.

The ceremony began as Shannon and Matt were surrounded by their closest friends and family.  As the ceremony came to completion, the sun began breaking through the clouds making for spectacular weather during the reception.  Before Matt had a chance to shake it off to Taylor Swift on the dance floor, we took the opportunity to take Shannon and Matt outside for a few perfect sunset pictures.  Speaking of perfect, you have to check out Matt’s Taylor Swift dance moves!
