Just a few weeks ago we were starting to feel the beginning sensations of the CVOID-19 pandemic. The first US cases had been reported and we began to pay attention and head warnings from our government officials about social distancing. Tara and Liam had their engagement session planned for months, and we had yet to hear suggestions of “stay safe at home” – we figured we would go ahead with their session.
Although I normally give a big hug to our couples when I see them, we awkwardly just waved and started talking about how different life was shaping up to be in the upcoming weeks. Tara and Liam’s wedding was originally planned for May 2nd. Although they were optimistic when we met up, they have since decided to postpone their wedding to later this year. Also, many of Liam’s family members live abroad so it seemed like the only choice for this couple was to wait a few more months to tie the knot.
Tara and Liam, like so many of our couples, are facing difficult and heartbreaking decisions. However, our sweet couples are realizing that as much excitement the wedding day itself holds, it is nothing in comparison to the actual JOY of just being married.
I was glad we were able to shoot their engagement session in downtown Woodstock before the closures began. If you are not aware, Woodstock is the town where the movie “Groundhog Day” was filmed. It has is a beautiful little downtown space with a town square. There were so many perfect little spots to stop and photograph Tara and Liam.
In these uncertain times, it is good to focus on the positive. Tara and Liam have been dating since attending high school together. Their love for each other isn’t going anywhere although it may be a few extra months until they get to say their vows. In a time like this, it is important to love and appreciate those closest to you. Here are some of the best photos from their engagement session.
