Chelsey & Nick

When we first met Chelsey and Nick, up in snow covered Northern Wisconsin for their February engagement session, it was bitterly cold and their summer wedding seemed like it was a lifetime away.  However, as most brides will tell you, the time goes by quickly when you’re planning a wedding – so next thing you know, their beautiful warm summer wedding day arrives.  The day was absolutely perfectly planned from the color scheme to the flowers. However, although brides and grooms do their best to anticipate and plan the day, sometimes not everything goes exactly as planned.  Usually it is the weather that will throw couples for a loop, but not for Chelsey and Nick.  The weather was absolutely perfect.  It was a mile-long freight train with three engines sitting on a hill just fifty yards away from their outdoor ceremony.   Marc made small talk with the engineer earlier in the day when we arrived at the venue. It turns out they were waiting on a shift change to take the train from Dubuque to Chicago.   So the train waited, sitting on the tracks for about 3 hours while we photographed the wedding party and prepared for the ceremony.   It wasn’t until right smack dab middle of the ceremony that the train engines roared to life. And then with a few mighty blasts of the horn, it started chugging along with an ear-deafening commotion right as Chelsey and Nick were saying their vows.   They couldn’t help but laugh at the imperfect timing of the events.  As the dinner began, Chelsey’s father took to the microphone and joked how they had prayed for great weather but forgot to check the train schedule.

Although it was a noisy start to their marriage, I have no doubt Chelsey and Nick will live many happy years together.   We enjoyed sharing in their day and here are a few of our favorite highlights.
