Although it has officially been spring for well over a month now, Chicago hasn’t seemed to have received the message. As the forecast was gradually deteriorating the entire week leading up to Emily and Edwards April 27th wedding, it became more and more apparent that Chicago would record one of the latest snowfalls on record. When I walked into Emily’s parents’ home the morning of the wedding, I reassured Emily that regardless of the weather, she was to become Edward’s wife and THAT was the most important part of the day. The snow had no bearing on the life they were about to begin together. As I gathered Emily’s details to capture the beginning of the day, I couldn’t help but admire her gorgeous Louis Vuitton shoes. They were the perfect something blue to add to the family heirloom wedding gown she had chosen for this special day. The gown was her great aunts wedding dress originally worn in 1953. The dress was perfect for the traditional and elegant wedding Emily and Edward had envisioned.
As the ceremony grew near, the guests were transported from downtown Chicago to the beautiful St. Edna’s church in Arlington Heights. Edward was born on the east coast – so it was wonderful to see how many of his closest friends and family traveled to Chicago to celebrate in this joyous event. When the ceremony commenced, Father Rich surprised everyone by beginning to sing “Let it Snow” and the pianist picked up and joined in – the guests had a good laugh. The ceremony was beautiful and cheers and clapping escorted Emily and Edward down the aisle and soon we were heading downtown for portraits and the reception.
We had already prepared a backup plan for the weather. We proceeded to the historic and timeless Lyric Opera house of Chicago to capture portraits. Marc and I worked quickly to capture portraits and to get the bridal party back into the warmth for their cocktail hour. The Murdoch room at River Roast was decorated beautifully – the elegance matching their wedding vision. Florals lined the wood tables and candlelight provided a romantic ambiance to the scenic banquet room. Much the evening was spent with food and drink and celebrating the newlyweds. We were honored to be able to capture and be a part of your celebration and we are so happy to share a few of our favorite moments from that day.
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Emily & Edward’s day beautiful!
