Glacial Park Canoe Engagement Photography | Ringwood, IL

Kara & Ryan were in the middle of planning their wedding when they began searching for a photographer. After they contacted us, we planned to meet at a local coffee shop during their lunch break. It may have been our love of doodle puppies that drew us together from the start. Kara & Ryan have a golden doodle named Brady (namesake of Tom Brady) and we have a labradoodle named Kingston (namesake of the capital of Jamaica). Both pups were just over a year old and we enjoyed talking about all the antics and struggles of training a puppy. We shared a few pictures of our dogs and the next thing we knew, 15 minutes had gone by and we hadn’t even began to talk about the wedding details. All we knew is we needed to get these two handsome pups together for a puppy play date.

Once we began chatting about the wedding – I came to learn that Kara and Ryan met while working together at a bank. Ryan travelled to Kara’s branch to help out, and soon after, she was transferred to his branch. Work romance sparks began to fly and after spending some time outside work together, they began to date.

Kara and Ryan are one of the more adventurous couples we’ve met – when Kara mentioned her plan was to canoe for their engagement photos, I was absolutely IN! We met at the beautiful Glacial Park in McHenry County. This is a place Kara and Ryan like to hike and bring their doodle, Brady, along. It was the perfect location for their adventurous engagement session. The water was a bit high due to the recent influx of rain, so it was a bit of a challenge as I ran along the bank to keep up with the current – shooting and laughing. There was no need for me to work out for the rest of the week after keeping up with the speedy canoe.

All in all, it was a beautiful evening for a session – Marc and I are looking forward to capturing your wedding next month!
