Rachel & Jacob
Every engagement proposal is exciting, but what makes it even more exciting when it happens to two people you love! Jacob is our nephew, he and his girlfriend Rachel have been dating for nearly a year and a half. Over this time we have gotten to know and love Rachel as well. Jacob had, unbeknownst to his future fiance, sent out a Facebook event invite to close friends and family titled, “The Proposal”. Marc and I had a chuckle at the ease of inviting people to something so exciting and personal, and how perhaps Jacob may have wanted to mention that it was a surprise. I had immediately shared my congratulations by sending Jacob a message and casually offering to capture the exciting event with my camera. Jacob loved the idea and figured it would be an great way to document such and joyous celebration with Rachel.
Jacob had planned on proposing at a winery, so when Rachel suggested Lynfred Winery for a date night tour and wine tasting, Jacob was thrilled as it played perfectly into his plan. Being as it was Rachel’s idea, how could she be suspicious? The planning had begun. Since Jacob was in his last week of finals, I offered to take a drive over to the winery to scope out locations. Lynfred winery is a stunning turn of the century treasure! The ivy climbing up the brick is a charming accent to the beautiful architecture. I had found the absolute perfect spot and called Jacob to share some ideas.
When the evening came for the proposal, the scene was perfectly set . Friends and family waited outside, hiding behind bushes. This circle of friends is amazing and so close knit. The group even included one of our past brides as well as one of our 2018 brides. Jacob and Rachel had just finished up their tasting and came outside. Jacob dropped to one knee and before he had a chance to even fully ask Rachel the big question, friends and family came out from hiding and cheered to celebrate. Rachel was so surprised and happy to see her friends, and family there. Rachel of course said “YES!” and lots of hugs were shared.
As friends and family departed to attend the after party hosted by Rachel’s parents, I had the chance to snag the newly engaged couple for a few portraits. These two were on top of the world as they beamed with love and excitement. I was so honored to be able to capture this beautiful spring evening for them.
Marc and I are so excited for these two and can’t wait to see their journey of love and wedding planning ahead of them.
I thought it would be fun to throw in my planning shots, and a behind the scene image that Marc captured! LOL
