It may have been one of the last nice weather weekends of the summer – the third week of August. Marc and I never could have imagined it wouldn’t be until late August that we would be able to capture the first full-length wedding of our 2020 wedding season.
A couple of weeks ago, on a sunny warm Saturday, we arrived at Tara’s parents’ home to find it a flurry of activity as hair and makeup was just wrapping up. The girls were just buzzing with excitement as they witnessed their best friend putting on her wedding dress – about to get married to her high school sweetheart.
Both Tara and Liam met while attending Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, IL. As many typical high school romances start, their first date was at a movie theater then a stop at Dunkin’ Doughnuts – that was 8 years ago! Back then, who could’ve possibly imagined having to plan a wedding in the middle of a crazy pandemic?
Tara had told us the one thing she that excited her most about her wedding day, she was FINALLY marrying her soulmate after so many years. Unfortunately, a few of their closest family and friends would not be able to be present for the celebration. One person, with one of the most important wedding day roles, the best man (Liam’s brother Shane), is an active member of the US military. Due to circumstances and travel bans, he was not able to participate on the wedding day. Shane was still the honorary best man and the rest of the groomsmen even carried a life-size cutout of him to the wedding – even though he was miles and miles away. The cut out was even present for the best man speech as a pre-recorded video was played where Shane sent newlyweds best wishes and many years of happiness.
We were happy to capture such a joyous – first full-wedding of our 2020 wedding season. We know with a love like Tara & Liam’s – happy, bright, and beautiful days are still possible!
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Tara & Liam’s day beautiful.
