Brachman Family

I was just a nerdy, freckled, plaid-skirted fourth grader from Holy Ghost Catholic grade school. I stood there in my too large for my face glasses while looking out over the bluff at the golden trees and thinking how pretty it all was at Swiss Valley. I remember that school field trip well. I remember taking that long hike, making notes in our journals, learning about owls, and eating the PB&J my mom had lovingly made me, out of that brown paper sack. Something about being in that place was so calming, so beautiful, so surreal, even to the younger me. So I am not sure why it didn’t dawn on me sooner what a great location it would be for a family session.

Vanessa emailed me at the end of summer; she was looking to book a family session with her husband and son for the fall. We picked a date, and as that date approached, Vanessa suggested Swiss Valley for the location. Suddenly all of those memories came flooding back. The colorful trees, the crisp air, that delicious PB&J. Vanessa was right, it would be the perfect location for their family session and I was so excited to be there again.

Before I go any further, I must also mention that Vanessa is also a photographer and super talented as well! (You can check out her work here). It was truly an honor that she hired me to capture her family. I had so much fun with this delightful family of three plus their dog Ollie. Little Kylar kept me laughing the entire time! That little kid is amazingly perceptive and has such a great and fun personality.
