Sierrah & Steven first met in high school. In the words of Sierrah, “I kind of knew who he was before he really knew who I was.” When Steven graduated high school in 2010, before Sierrah, she thought her high school crush was gone forever. However, living in small town Iowa, their paths crossed once again on a summer night while hanging out with friends. Sierrah and Steven have been dating 10 years -after planning out a 2 ½ year engagement before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, they chose not to postpone the big day any longer.
One of our favorite parts of the day was the first look – when Steven rode up Dubuque’s historic 4th street elevator to see his bride. Claiming to be the worlds shortest steepest railway, it ascends a vertical elevation of 189 feet on short a 296 ft. track. Once arriving at the top, Steven was able to see Sierrah for the first time on their wedding day. After 10 years, he mentioned it was well worth the wait. The views of the Mississippi and the old river town are breathtaking and provided the perfect backdrop for their intimate moment.
These two picked a perfect venue for their “beach” wedding theme. The National Mississippi Museum provided the quintessential nautical backdrop for Sierrah & Steven to share their vows. There wasn’t a single piece of décor not perfectly tied to the coal and turquoise theme. Sierrah could’ve easily curated a wedding for Pinterest with the attention to detail and perfectly planned touches throughout their day.
May the next adventure of your life be as sweet as the first 10 years. Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Shady!
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Sierrah & Steven’s day beautiful.
