As many of you know by now if you follow our blog, we love wedding details. From the perfectly worded wedding invitations that set the tone and style of the event, to the delicate white wedding shoes adorned with crystals and the intricate bouquets of colorful florals carefully picked out to compliment the bridesmaid dresses. Details are the glue that bind together a wedding day vision. However, no matter how expensive or elaborate any detail can be, nothing is more meaningful than a bride choosing to incorporate a family heirloom. The necklace was impeccably wrapped around Ellen’s white bridal bouquet. It was tarnished over the years, but the radiant gold seashell adorned with flowers and leaves shined brightly against the bouquet stems. We always take pleasure in hearing the stories behind these special pieces. Ellen told us that the necklace was originally an earring that her great-great grandmother had worn down the aisle many years ago. Now strung onto a gold necklace, every family bride since then has carried this piece of family history down the aisle on their wedding day.
This special day was beautiful, warm, and sunny. As friends and family started gathering at the Rolling Meadows Fellowship church that morning, Ellen and Scott snuck away to see each other for the first time as bride and groom. They shared in smiles, hugs, and laughter as they held onto each other. In a few short moments they would be husband and wife. Ellen and Scott share of a love for their church. Ellen has traveled the world on mission trips helping people most in need while Scott has donated his time helping serve the refugee and immigrant population in the area. Both Ellen and Scott shared that this is something they love most in each other – kindness and service to others through their faith.
The ceremony was filled with prayer and love from their community. The sweetest point was when Ellen and Scott shared their first kiss EVER after being pronounced husband and wife. I was honored to be a part of such a wonderful day and have been looking forward to sharing a few of my favorite moments. Enjoy!
A special thanks to all the vendors who made Ellen and Scott’s day beautiful.
