You can curse the traffic, the heat, the wind, the snow, and the construction. We live in Windy City, and that pretty much sums up a lot of what Chicagoans say about our fair Midwestern town. However to really appreciate how beautiful of a city Chicago really is, I suggest taking a step back and looking at it from a rooftop on a warm Summer day.
The first time I met with Leigh and Kevin, it was a cold and windy evening in the dead of Winter. Yes that time of the year we cursed the cold and the snow as we chatted and warmed up over coffee and hot chocolate. Two things were very important to Kevin and Leigh on their wedding day. First the wedding day needed to be celebrated with their closest family and friends. For Leigh this included her brother who was stationed in Japan. The second request was to take wedding photos all over the most beautiful places Chicago has to offer. What?! Is this my dream client… you mean you want to trolley around Chicago for 3 hours and take pictures?! Queue the Alleluia Chorus.
The day was a warm and sunny, a beautiful day for the end of June. The type of day that makes you excited for Summer. The ceremony and cocktail reception were held on the rooftop at the Italian American Hall of Fame. The backdrop as they said their vows offered an absolutely unparalleled view of the Chicago skyline. Kevin and Leigh shared in a beautiful ceremony, and stayed side by side sharing silly inside joke type glances at each other as they mingled with their friends and family.
One of the most important and touching parts of the day for Leigh was having her brother there. They planned their whole wedding date based on when he would be on leave and back in the US from being deployed in Japan. The Marine flew 10+ hours the day before to be sure not to miss his little sister’s wedding.
Our day ended with a Trolley ride around Chicago. There is no greater feeling of pride and excitement that comes from stopping at the most beautiful locations around this city. The Adler Planetarium, The Lakefront at Olive Park, The Chicago Art Museum, Millennium Park, The Chicago Theater, it was an absolute thrill. The day was absolutely one to remember.
I am in love with this bridesmaid dress, so gorgeous!
You can not beat this view! AMAZING!
This three story spiral stairwell was so perfect for a couple portraits of the newlyweds.
