If you ask Michelle and James who asked whom out first, you may get conflicting stories. Michelle and James first met while in their Ph.D. programs in Biological Sciences at the University of Chicago. It wasn’t until two years later at a mutual friend’s birthday party that sparks began to fly. If you ask Michelle, she would say she asked James for the first date while James will claim they blurted it out simultaneously. No matter the origins of this romantic story, the first official date was set for dinner and drinks at Gilt Bar in downtown Chicago.
A successful friendship turned into a successful first date, which turned into much, much more.
One of this now engaged couple’s favorite things to do is to make homemade pizzas on Friday nights. It was during one of these perfect pizza nights after they had completed constructing their pies, James made a couple of cocktails and then proceeded to get down on one knee and propose. Michelle said “YES!”, before dissolving into happy tears.
We recently had a chance to grace the historic grounds of their alma mater campus for this session. It was a beautiful day to capture a new era of their lives back where it all began – and trust us, these two scientists are combining the perfect set of elements for a beautiful marriage together.
Session Locations: Univesity of Chicago and Harold Washington Park
