It was one of the last warm days of fall when I met with Carissa and Patrick at Lincoln Park for their engagement photos. The weather, the light, the ambiance… everything was absolutely perfect for their session. After chatting on the phone a couple of times, I was really looking forward to meeting these two in person. Carissa and Patrick are huge fans of craft beer, so these are really our type of people! The first beer they had ever shared together was PseidoSue made by Toppling Goliath out of Decorah, Iowa. The beer was named after the T-Rex, Sue, residing at the Field Museum. From that first beer, Patrick knew there was something perfect he found in Carissa. She was the one he wanted to share the rest of his life with. Now, after I met Patrick, it was easy to see what a truly genuine and nice person he really is. It didn’t surprise me how thoughtful he was when planning his proposal to Carissa.
This past September Carissa and Patrick’s niece and nephew came to Chicago for a visit. Patrick made plans to take Carissa and the kids to the The Field Museum, an historic and iconic Chicago attraction. Just before leaving, Patrick suggested that a stranger take their picture under “Sue”, the aforementioned t-rex. As they were all standing there smiling for the camera, Patrick surprised Carissa by getting down on one knee and asking her to be his wife. Carissa recalls tears, shock, laughing, hugs and a lot of kisses. What a sweet and memorable way for these two to start such an exciting time of their lives.
